How old were you when your talent became evident and you knew you were gifted? Feel free to give some details.
The evidence of my talent surfaced at the age of 25 after receiving massive support and encouragement from family, friends and strangers who would later on become fans.
Who is your biggest musical and non-musical inspiration?
It is not possible to name only one. I would have to say locally it would be Ashanti and Invader. Regionally and also considered being international coming from Jamaica it would have to be Bounty Killer.
In your opinion, what has so far been your biggest hurdle as a Soca artiste?
The fact that Soca music is still not recognized as a music genre despite having amassed millions of views on digital platforms and various Soca artistes touring the globe.
Are you happily married/taken, or single living your best life?
Taken and living my best life.
What is your most memorable performance or experience to date?
I’ve had many memorable performances and experiences. What resonates with me was traveling halfway across the globe; Dubai to be exact and to see Soca music embraced on a whole new level was a feeling that words cannot explain.
Where do you see yourself in five years from now?
I do have a passion for cooking, so in about 5 years I do see myself having my own chain of restaurants.
Do you have a favorite song (not your own)? If you do, can you tell us why it's this particular one?
It is quite challenging to select a favorite song. As I am a lover of all genre of music, despite the fact that I am known for singing and performing Soca music.
Can you cook? If yes, what's your best dish? If you can't cook, what's the dish you love to order?
As previously mentioned, I have a passion for cooking. And one of my favorite dishes to prepare is Saint Lucia’s National Dish, “Green Fig and Saltfish.”
What genre besides Soca can we find in your current personal music playlist?
Life of the party or do you prefer to lay back and go with the flow?
Lay back and go with the flow. Despite the fact that I am known for high energy performances, many are not aware of the fact that I am an introvert.
Online events are the new order of the day. What are your views about this new phenomenon?
Covid-19 have given rise to so many new things and online events is one of them. Change is inevitable, we are now living in a digital age, so we need to adjust and adapt.
Any rising Soca stars you believe we should keep an eye out for?
At this moment I can’t really say that there are any.
What personal achievement are you most proud of?
Other than having my daughter it would have to be being first Soca artiste in St Lucia to have won twenty-one (21) titles and also the artiste which has done the most touring.
What advice will you give to any new artiste considering to pursue a career in the Soca industry?
I will give them three inspirational quotes:
1. If you cannot figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose.
2. Don’t be dismissive of criticism. Instead, use it to improve your product.
3. Work for a cause not for applause. Live to express and not to impress. Don’t strive to make your presence noticed, just make your absence felt.

I just want to thank the people of Europe for the love, support and the way that they have embraced my music. I will say to them that there is much more where that came from so look out for new and better from Ricky T.
